Ask someone what defines an automotive Disneyland every year and the answers vary depending on the time of year or the place they’re living in. Some say it’s the Geneva Motor Show (if it does actually return) or the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the Los Angeles Auto Show and even the Tokyo Motor Show. But for those who live down a picturesque side of southern England, what seems like a mundane stretch of road turns into a thrilling event — the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Held at the Goodwood House, West Sussex, England, this festival celebrates the Goodwood Motor Circuit that between 1948 and 1966 had become the spiritual home of British motorsport. Many notable names such as Jack Brabham, Jim Clark, Juan Manuel Fangio, Graham Hill, Phil Hill, Denny Hulme, Jochen Rindt, Jackie Stewart, John Surtees and more legendary drivers have earned a reputation for themselves, racing on this circuit.
