Dr Yadav added that Madhya Pradesh has a significant cattle population, securing third rank, according to the 2019 Census. Apart from making "cow ambulances" operational in the state, the government has also undertaken the construction of urban cow shelters across Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Indore and Bhopal, with a capacity to accommodate 10,000 cows.
He also emphasised several initiatives that the state government has adopted towards the conservation and enhancement of productivity of indigenous cattle breeds in a focused and scientific manner by using new farm management practices and providing superior nutrition.
