What are the key strengths that enable IRB to maintain its position as India's largest road BOT operator?
With over 25 years of experience, IRB is India's largest multinational transport infrastructure developer in the roads and highways sector. It operates through the parent company and four strategic business verticals: wholly owned concessions, a private infrastructure investment trust, a public infrastructure investment trust, and an EPC arm. IRB has a presence across 12 Indian states with a portfolio of 26 highway projects spanning nearly15,500 lane km, valued at Rs 800 billion. Out of these, 18 projects fall under the BOT segment, boasting a weighted average concession life of 22 years, the largest in terms of numbers and asset value among private sector concessionaires.
IRB's self-sufficient model supports growth through strategies such as asset monetisation, leveraging two InvITS, and employing the B.E.S.T approach (Bid, Execute, Stabilise, and Transfer).
Backed by an extensive asset portfolio and prudent financial management, IRB aims to triple its portfolio in the next six to eight years. Additionally, the company benefits from global investors Cintra (Spain) and GIC (Singapore), who bring capital, best practices, and systems. IRB's ISO-certified operations, pioneering initiatives in India's highways sector, and strong ESG compliance further cement its leadership.
With major investments in national highways, what role does IRB Infra envision for itself? Could you elaborate on strategies for winning NHAI tenders and ensuring seamless project execution?
