NIT ROURKELA ADOPTS NEP, FOCUSES ON AI AND EMPLOYABILITY

ENGINEERING curricula are evolving to meet the demands of modern education and quality. Previously, the curriculum focused on subjects chosen by teachers, leaving students with limited options. The implementation of NEP will enable a learner-centric system, where students will have the freedom to choose subjects that align with their interests. Institutions like NIT Rourkela have already revamped their programmes to align with the NEP and the National Credit Framework policy.

Updating the Curriculum

The new education policy has recognised the importance of holistic development and fostering a well-rounded education. It has encouraged the integration of co-curricular activities and vocational training, nurturing students’ physical, emotional and intellectual growth. Additionally, it introduces project-oriented courses that are skill-based and industry-related, providing students with practical experience and preparing them for the workforce.
