Society is conditioned to often judge jewellery as something that only women wear and seems odd when men wear it. Since time immemorial, jewellery has been used not only to embellish but to also stand out. Men of ancient cultures and tribes used jewellery and ornaments to make themselves stronger and more attractive. It has been a way to add style to their body and even used as clothing at times. While notably, women are more passionate than men about jewellery, in the modern world, men wear them a lot too. In history references too, there have been times when men have been cloaked in gold and jewels as much as, or even more than, women; Maharajas, Mughal Emperors, English Kings and so on which posed the eternal dilemma of how they could move even an inch under the constricting weight of their regalia. In the world of hip-hop, heavy gold chains, diamond-encrusted necklaces, bracelets, medallions, rings, earrings, mouth grills, tooth caps and even mobile phone covers in precious metals and stones have become mainstream style symbols. In the case of rap and hip-hop culture, often the amount of gold and gems a man is wearing corresponds to his position and status in society. Men are now spending more on themselves and are increasingly interested in adornments other than watches. The demand for male jewellery is increasing exponentially.
