The pre-engineered building technology, which entered the Indian construction arena during the late ‘90s, has gained widespread accep-tance among the end-users and is steadily advancing with construction of infrastructure projects across the country. The major segments catered to are industrial buildings, warehouses, retail super-markets, aircraft hangers, power plants, high-rises, commercial buildings, defense installations, railway stations, workshops, etc.
The increasing acceptance of PEB-based construction technique is because it is innovative, high-tech, and faster, ensuring efficient, cost-effective, and timely completion of projects (which is the pre-requisite for the construction sector to meet tight construction schedules).
Arvind Nanda, MD, Interarch Building Products, says, “Steel has been used in every country which wanted faster construction and growth. In fact, Steel consumption is directly related to development of a country and its GDP growth. All developed nations and high growth economies have high steel consumptions primarily due to its usage in construction. Steel is used in constructing buildings, factories, warehouses, airports, flyovers and highways, etc. Technologies like pre-engineered buildings and structures have aided in timely completion of projects with high quality and safety. Higher grades of steel have also helped in its usage.”
