Road compactor and paver manufacturers remain optimistic about the ongoing surge in road construction projects, mainly due to the upcoming 2024 General elections, expecting sustained demand in the long term. However, they face challenges in adhering to new emission norms, managing increased costs of machinery, and meeting the specific demands of sub-contractors and rental companies. The higher end of the market’s preference for high-horsepower engines may also disrupt sales.
Manufacturers have acknowledged that demand may be affected by extended payment cycles from project developers to contractors, which could cause financial strain for construction companies and influence their investment in new equipment. The upcoming general elections could also cause a temporary slowdown in the announcement of new road projects. Despite these potential issues, road construction equipment manufacturers are continuing to strategize. They are working on building new, more powerful models, upgrading existing ones, expanding their dealer network, and strengthening their brand to stay competitive.
