THE TRIPLE-TRAIN ACCIDENT

Railway Transport is considered one of the safest and comfortable modes of transport. It is the first option to be preferred by the middle-class passengers, who form the majority of the travelers in our nation.

But, every once in a while, accidental disasters remind us that there's nothing that you can rely on, completely. One such disaster happened recently in Odisha which shattered the hopes and hearts of everyone around the country. It is one of the deadliest train accidents in decades, in India's history. It occurred on Friday near Balasore in the eastern state of Odisha.

His mother had died in his early childhood and his father used to travel widely. He was mostly raised by his servants. The Tagore family was at the forefront of the Bengal Renaissance. They hosted the publication of literary magazines; theatre and recitals of Bengali and Western classical music featured there regularly.

It is considered the worst train mishap in two decades, involving three train with over 2,200 passengers in which the death toll reached around 300 with over 1000 injured. Everything was going as usual, without any issues, until the coromandel express (Train No: 12842), which was travelling from Shalimar to Chennai Central, entered a track that it is not supposed to, on June 2 around 18:15 IST. Bahanaga bazar station consists of four railway tracks, of which two are main lines, the tracks which are meant for for trains that do not stop at that station and the other two are loop lines, the tracks which are meant for trains that stop at that station. It is to be noted that the main lines are straight without curved paths as they expect a high-speed train on them, unlike loop lines which expect the train to slow down since they are meant for stopping trains.
