DGS ORDER 06 OF 2023: A DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD
Effectively enforced since February 24,2023, the DGS Order establishes age limits for vessels, ranging from 25 to 40 years based on their type. While designed to bolster maritime safety and mitigate environmental risks, the order presents challenges for both Indian and foreign-owned vessels. This article scrutinizes the intricacies of the age limits, exemptions for existing vessels, and the three-year operational window granted to affected ships.
