Why is the Hindi film industry obsessed with using stereotypical names? The rich family is Oberoi or Singhania. The hero is Vijay/Raja, villain is Teja/Rakha, the vamp is named Mona/Dolly/Lily, the housemaid is named Mary/ Rozy, the bai is Kantabai, and the helper or mali is always the poor Ramu kaka?

Well, your point is well taken. But how else would you be entertained if you didn’t relate to the characters or names?
I understand they’re mostly exaggerated versions of people we see around us. To make it relatable, these stock names are used. It should all be taken with a pinch of salt.
