Six months after eloping to Gretna Green, where they married in front of two witnesses, the couple decided to do it all again – this time celebrating with 93 guests, including Carrie’s musician brother Tom Fletcher, who sang her up the aisle, Tom’s wife Giovanna and a host of other performers.
Carrie, 30, and Joel, 36, sealed their love in the Kent countryside as their nearest and dearest looked on during a day that included fairground rides, comedy vows and plenty of mus ic – and was shared exclusively with hello!.
“It was very special to be able to share our big day with everyone,” says Carrie, who was the star of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella. “Seeing all of those people who had congregated for us and our marriage was wonderful.
“It was an emotional moment seeing everyone turn towards me as I walked down the aisle and thought: ‘Oh my God, all these people are here for us.’”
DRESSED TO IMPRESS
The couple's unconventional day took place on 6 August at Marleybrook House near Canterbury, once home to US singer and actress Eartha Kitt and now a wedding venue boasting the UK's largest private fairground.
