Love was in the air for Pippa Middleton and her husband James Matthews as they celebrated her 40th birthday with a romantic break on Italy's Lake Como.
The Princess of Wales's sister cut a glamorous figure as the couple headed to a wedding ahead of her own milestone last week, smiling in the autumn sunshine as she waited outside their luxury lakeside hotel.
The mother of three, who turned 40 on 6 September, was striking in a scarlet Phase Eight gown, which she accessorised with a pair of statement earrings and an Elizabeth Sutton clutch bag bearing the name of Eden Rock, the hotel her father-in-law owns in the Caribbean. Pippa and financier James were among the guests invited to celebrate with nutritionist Belle Porter and designer Max Robinson as they tied the knot at exclusive Villa Balbiano, the largest private residence on the lake.
