Just a stone's throw from the Eiffel Tower, Timothy Corrigan's Belle Epoque apartment would be the dream residence of any American in Paris. And since this particular American is one of the world's top interior designers, his home is truly stunning.
Los Angeles-born Timothy's love affair with France goes back more than 30 years. It has inspired him to help restore treasured national landmarks, for which he's been honoured by the French Heritage Society. It's also shaped his signature style: a combination of continental charm and California cool that's found its way into royal residences and movie star mansions, including one belonging to Madonna.
While Timothy's not about to divulge much more detail on his client list, he's happy to introduce us to Hollywood actress Mili Avital, who joined him for our shoot.
"I think of her as my little sister," he says of his dear friend, who stars alongside Sir Anthony Hopkins in Netflix's biblical epic, Mary.
Timothy, how long have you been living in Paris?
"I first moved here in 1987, when I was in advertising and employed by a big international agency. I stayed for seven years, falling in love with both the city and France itself.
So after switching careers and launching my design business in Los Angeles I decided to open a second office here to handle projects in Europe and the Middle East." -
When did you find this apartment?
“It was in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic. I was staying in Los Angeles when I found out that the building next door to my Paris home was about to undergo four years of renovation. I wasn’t willing to put up with the noise, so I started looking online for somewhere else.
I liked this place straight away.”
What did you enjoy most about decorating it?
