It's billed as the most wonderful time of the year, but the pressure to have a picture-perfect Christmas can catch up on all of us. Add in short days and some icy-cold snaps, and you might be left feeling a bit low, run-down or just struggling with the lack of routine. So, don't underestimate the therapeutic benefits of bathing. Studies suggest it can give your immune system a nice little boost, improve sleep patterns and help to manage emotional wellbeing.
"Bathing rituals can have a transformative impact on our lives," says Dr Barbara Kubicka, author of The Bath Project. "They provide an opportunity to unwind, soothe the nervous system and establish a self-care routine."
As well as monitoring the water temperature - Barbara suggests it should be 38-42°C- and bath-scaping with candles, plants and a relaxing soundtrack, it's important to be prescriptive with your products. "The products can have a significant bearing on the bathing experience," she says.
Here, we suggest how you can draw a bath that will keep your holiday blues at bay.
