“It doesn’t matter if you feel fine because cancer can be so silent,” she said. “Go get screened. Go get checked. Don’t wait.”
The 63-year-old mother and grandmother, who underwent a single mastectomy two weeks after discovering her diagnosis at a routine mammogram, made her impassioned plea in a new episode of her podcast Tea Talks with the Duchess and Sarah with her co-host, entrepreneur Sarah Thomson.
It was recorded the day before her operation at King Edward VII’s Hospital in London, which has treated members of the royal family for decades.
Sarah is now resting at Royal Lodge in Windsor, the home she shares with her ex-husband the Duke of York.
“The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good,” said a spokesperson. “She is now recuperating with her family.”
HEARTFELT THANKS
Sarah has received a flood of good wishes since announcing her news. Among social media messages was one from actress and singer Natalie Imbruglia, who wrote: “Sending all my love and light to you”, while TV presenter Eamonn Holmes encouraged Sarah to “keep getting better”.
