Damon lobbies to revive benched Williams memorial
ROBIN WUZ ROBBED!

MOVIEMAKER Matt Damon gave a boost to a stalled grassroots movement to erect a bronze statue of his late Good Will Hunting costar Robin Williams near the Boston park bench immortalized in the 1997 film!

Damon, 53, unwittingly ignited a fuse under Beantown officials on the tenth anniversary of Williams’ tragic 2014 suicide!

Speaking of the proposed monument, the Massachusetts native gushed, “It would be like the most beautiful installation and a tribute to that guy. I think he would’ve loved that. I hope it comes to pass.”

Damon, who co-wrote the Oscar-winning screenplay with castmate and childhood pal Ben Affleck, added, “It would be pretty cool.”

And his remarks triggered an avalanche of online activity to resuscitate the dormant project!
