‘I don’t want Betsy to think all relationships fail’

As Denise Van Outen admits her worries over daughter Betsy, a parenting expert explains how break-ups affect children

Denise Van Outen opened up on her fears for her daughter Betsy last week as she admitted she’s turned to therapy to cope with her split from Eddie Boxshall.

And a parenting expert has told new that while Denise is clearly hurting, she is right to be worried about her daughter as the impact of the break-up on her “shouldn’t be underestimated”.

“Kids have phones now, and they’re in school where they’re going to read things and hear things, so I did have to be completely honest with her. There are still things I probably haven’t told her or I’ve held back,” Denise said about the breakdown of her seven-year relationship with Eddie, which ended in January.

“There have been moments where I’ve been really upset, and you don’t want your child to see you upset because it’s a horrible thing, but at the same time, she does need to know.”
