Straight-talking reality TV star Charlotte Dawson really is a girl who, despite her ups and downs, is determined not to take life too seriously.
“What you see is what you get with me,” the 31-year-old says laughing, as we chat over the phone. In fact, she’s so down to earth that we need to pause our chat so she can help her eldest, Noah, find a toilet during their car journey (something Charlotte can’t apologise enough for).
She has embraced motherhood – and it’s something she keeps fans up to date with on Instagram. “I don’t sugarcoat anything at all,” she says, as she talks about the good, the bad and the ugly of life with her sons, Noah and Jude.
Yet behind the bravado and warm laughter, the events that have unfolded in Charlotte’s life of late would have shaken even the most positive of people. Most notably, Charlotte – daughter of late comedian Les Dawson – and her fiancé Matt Sarsfield, 32, found themselves the victims of online trolls, who maliciously reported the pair to social services and the NSPCC with the false accusation that they were mistreating their sons.
Now, as the former Ex On The Beach and Celebs Go Dating star looks to the future, she tells new about her latest career move, her hopes for a third baby and why being “frisky” sends her to the naughty corner.
Hi, Charlotte! How are your two boys doing?
They’re great, thank you. Jude is turning one [on 30 July] and his talking is coming on leaps and bounds. I’ll sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to him and I can see him trying to sing back.
He’s not walking yet, but Noah was around 15 months when he took his first steps so you can’t put pressure on them. Plus, when they start walking they aren’t babies any more. I want to hang on to that stage a little longer. And Noah – who I can’t believe is three – is amazing at speaking.
