After a hit first run, Alan semi-autobiographical Carr's sitcom Changing Ends returns for a second series.
Changes are afoot for young Alan as he hits puberty and actor Oliver Savell, who plays the lead role, has been growing up too.
"I wrote the second series and I was really happy with it then, of course, Ollie walks in the door and I get a crick in my neck from looking up at him," says Alan, laughing. "I totally forgot he was a boy who is growing up. We ended up having to get some people to stand on blocks for filming so they could match his eyeline."
The new series sees us return to Northampton, where family life continues for Alan, his parents Christine and Graham, and his brother Gary. Alan has a newfound status in life now The Cobblers aka Northampton Town, the football team his dad manages - are flying up the league, while Christine is still at odds with overbearing neighbour Ange.
Plus, we'll see a trip to a caravan by the seaside and get our first glimpse of Alan's fearsome nan. Among all this, Alan faces several rites of passage as he approaches his teens - including trying to get into the cinema underage.
"That's based on a real time at the ABC in Northampton where we wanted to see a film, but we chickened out and I ended up watching Beaches," he says.
