When we last caught up with Laura Anderson, her daughter Bonnie, who was born on 2 September, was just weeks old. Fast-forward six months and the reality star is as besotted with her daughter as ever and says she finally feels like she’s got to grips with the parenting thing.
“People told me that if I had a wee girl she would become my best friend and I sort of didn’t believe them,” says Laura. “It’s 100% true though. My life revolves around Bonnie.”
Chatting about motherhood isn’t the only reason we’re here, as Laura also opens up about her exciting new radio gig – co-presenting on Capital Breakfast Scotland.
“My dad said I can talk for Scotland, so it’s really a dream come true for me,” the 35-yearold jokes. “I’ll be waking up Scots Monday to Friday and I’m so excited.”
Here, the Love Island 2018 runner-up talks about her determination to provide for Bonnie, whose father is actor Gary Lucy, and how she is navigating life as a new mum…
Hi, Laura! We can’t believe Bonnie is now seven months old. Are you quite strict with her routine?
I wouldn’t say strict as such but I do like to stick to a schedule, if I can. It means she knows what’s happening and so do I. For example, she has naps at specific times and I try to prep all her food beforehand, which definitely helps when my mum and dad are watching her. I’ve got a good support system around me. But I thought the milk part was hard but weaning is a whole different story. When I get everything sorted though, I feel invincible.
Do you ever have days when it feels particularly difficult?
