The Prince and Princess of Wales celebrate their 14th anniversary - after a tough year
-
The Prince and Princess of Wales have faced a “brutal” 12 months, which would have rocked the foundations of any marriage. But with Kate now in remission from cancer and gradually returning to royal duties, things are looking brighter for the couple. Next week they will mark 14 years of marriage. But over those past 14 years, it's not only Kate's cancer that has tested the strength of their union. They've had to deal with a “rift” with Prince Harry and Meghan - plus Harry's ongoing legal battle for security - as well as their increasing duties as Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. And all the while they've been raising their children, George, 11, Charlotte, nine, and Louis, who's seven this week.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond exclusively tells OK!, “I think William and Catherine will concentrate on one another and their family on their anniversary. Why crowd your head with thoughts about such a painful rift [with Harry] on what is meant to be a happy day?
“William wouldn’t be human if he could totally block out the thought that his brother - his one-time wingman, who shared so much trauma with him in their younger years - was just 15 minutes’ drive away when he was in the UK for his court case. But I don’t think he has much room in his head or his heart to dwell on the rift with Harry. It has become the norm for Harry to come and go and for there to be no contact. The surprise will be if and when there is some kind of communication.
