As if to prove that her gift for planning elaborate parties extends beyond last minute weddings, Rita Ora has thrown her movie director husband Taika Waititi the birthday bash to top all celebrations. As New Zealand filmmaker Taika – the mastermind behind blockbuster Jojo Rabbit and two of the superhero Thor movies – turned 48, he was made the guest of honour by doting wife Rita, 32, who gave him an A-list soiree to remember last week.
Along with a host of their big-name friends, the loved-up duo – who got hitched last August in the breathtaking grounds of Rita’s Los Angeles home – partied once again at a private villa in Ibiza.
The couple were joined by Hollywood actor Joel Edgerton, DJ and music producer Diplo, reality star Vas J Morgan and fashion designer Daniel Lee.
Representing the ladies were celebrity make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury, actress and model Jodie Turner-Smith, Pussycat Dolls star Ashley Roberts, TOWIE’s Chloe Sims and singer Jess Glynne.
Also joining the mix were Vogue editor Christine Centenera, model Lady Mary Charteris, and Charlene Suric, wife of Manchester City footballer Gael Clichy.
The high-profile group dined alfresco, enjoying an enviable banquet on a lavishly decorated table beside the plush villa’s turquoise swimming pools.
The sunset festivities – arranged with the help of the couple’s entrepreneur pal Klemens Hallmann and his model wife Barbara Meier, both of whom were also in attendance – saw guests take it in turns to give a speech in honour of the Academy Award and Bafta-winning birthday boy.
