At the end of last year, a group of celebrities braved the elements as they took on a challenge like no other – walking 100 kilometres across the Sahara Desert. Podcaster and TV presenter Giovanna Fletcher, former reality star Vicky Pattison, influencer Kelsey Parker, TOWIE’s Pete Wicks, 2016 Bake Off winner Candice Brown and Dr Emeka Okorocha embarked on the epic journey as team captains of more than 100 other trekkers, all in the hope of raising vital funds for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel!. And boy did they smash it!
The celebrities walked for up to 10 hours a day, before sleeping under the stars and then waking up to do it all again.
Here, Giovanna, Kelsey, Vicky, Dr Emeka, Candice and Pete tell us all about it…
GIOVANNA FLETCHER
As charity patron for CoppaFeel!, Giovanna Fletcher is passionate about taking on the annual treks in aid of breast cancer awareness. And this one was no different.
Joined by her celebrity pals as team captains, Gi-who's married to McFly star Tom Fletcher and is mum to sons Buzz, eight, Buddy, six, and four-year-old Max led her group through the Sahara Desert with one thing on her mind, raising money and helping those that needed it.
Here, Gi, 37, tells us about the trek and how excited she is to be an aunt again after her brother Mario Falcone revealed he and his wife Becky are expecting a second baby.
How hard was it being away from your kids during the trek?
