For the best part of two decades, Oscar-winning actress Julianne Moore has prioritised motherhood over movie-making.
Despite her huge Hollywood success, the star insisted on picking projects which were filmed as close to her New York home as possible, so keen was she to focus on her family and avoid uprooting son Caleb, now 26, and daughter Liv, 22.
But now that her offspring have flown the nest, the star of The Hunger Games franchise, Hannibal and The Lost World: Jurassic Park has been able to spread her wings like never before.
For Sky Atlantic's recent period drama, Mary & George, she found herself shooting in a succession of stately homes in a rain-soaked England. While earlier this year, the 63-year-old spent several weeks in an unseasonably warm Madrid, for legendary Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar's first-ever English language film, The Room Next Door, starring opposite British acting royalty Tilda Swinton.
Busy Julianne currently has no fewer than five feature films in the pipeline, including Apple TV+ thriller Echo Valley co-starring Sydney Sweeney as her daughter.
Chatting to Julianne, it's clear she not only relished working with The White Lotus and Anyone But You sensation Sydney, but she also feels excited about the new generation of actresses, who - like Sydney and her fellow Euphoria star Zendaya - are currently taking Hollywood by storm, both producing and acting in their own films.
