There's no sugar-coating it: Politics makes for brilliant TV viewing because it's real and something we're forced to deal with every day. And that's why it's even better as a tool to create some thrilling, relatable, eye-opening viewing...
THE COMEY RULE
Jeff Daniels (read right – The Newsroom) is genius at drama – and more so when he gets to show off his impossibly large intellect. In this two-episode biographical drama, he plays FBI Director James Comey who goes head-to-head behind the scenes with presidential candidate and then-President Donald Trump (played incredibly well by Brendan Gleeson).
Up on the electoral stage, Donald Trump was a monster of a politician. He said things so outlandish that you had to do a double take to believe what you were hearing. He attacked his rivals with below-the-belt comments, and took their personal tragedies and made fun of them. He ran the most underhanded campaign in US Presidential history. But it was a different story behind closed doors, where the power-hungry businessman lashed out at anyone who dared stand in his way or tell him that he’s wrong. And heaven help the person who stood up to Donald Trump to tell him that he was breaking the law with his investigations into rival candidate Hilary Rodham Clinton and that aligning himself to the Russians was a bad idea – “The Donald” fired them on the spot!
