Us explores why millennial music stars like Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry and J.Lo are making less of an impact
Former Fan Favorites Aren't Resonating Like They Used To

Trying to define the golden years of pop could spark a passionate debate between generations, but most millennials stand firm on it being a toss-up between the late '90s and early aughts. Back then, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and 98 Degrees reigned supreme, topping the charts and dominating MTV. Now they're struggling to make an impact in the industry they once dominated.

In March, Lopez, 55, canceled multiple dates for her This Is Me... Now Tour amid lackluster ticket sales, and in May, she canceled the tour completely before filing for divorce from Ben Affleck. Timberlake, 43, reportedly dropped ticket prices for The Forget Tomorrow World Tour in the wake of his DUI arrest, while Perry's "Woman's World' debuted at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. And despite the buzz around boy bands, 98 Degrees' 25th anniversary tour didn't resonate as much as expected.
