ALMOST 20 YEARS AFTER BEING CONVICTED FOR THE MURDER OF HIS WIFE AND SON, THERE IS A NEW SHOCK DEVELOPMENT

SCOTT PETERSON LAST DITCH DEFENCE

It’s been two decades since Scott Peterson was sentenced to death for the murder of his pregnant wife in a high-profile trial that captured attention around the globe. But after continuing to profess his innocence, the convicted killer has now teamed up with the Los Angeles Innocence Project in a bid to clear his name.

In court filings, the non-profit organisation – which seeks to exonerate those who have been wrongfully convicted – noted that they were taking up Peterson’s representation and argued that new evidence supports his “claim of actual innocence” and “raises many questions into who abducted and killed Laci and Conner Peterson”.

Laci was eight months pregnant, with a son she and Peterson had already named, when she went missing from their home in Modesto, California on Christmas Eve in 2002. Peterson told police that his 27-year-old wife had been planning to go for a walk with the couple’s golden retriever at a nearby park before he had left to go fishing at a nearby marina, but when he returned home later that day, her purse and the dog were at home with no sign of Laci.
