Kouri Richins, who wrote a children's book to help her kids deal with the death of their father, is now accused of killing him

She appeared to be every bit the grieving widow. “My husband passed away unexpectedly last year,” a somber Kouri Richins told the hosts of Good Things Utah in an April 6 interview about the children’s book Are You With Me? that she had written for her three sons following the loss of her husband and their father, Eric. “It completely took us all by shock.”

But a month later, in a twist right out of a crime novel, Kouri, 33, was arrested for Eric’s March 2022 murder. “While investigating, I was told by Eric’s family members that they suspected his wife had something to do with his death,” Summit County, Utah, Deputy Jayme Woody wrote in an affidavit, in which authorities allege Eric suspected that Kouri was having an affair and had stolen money from him — while also attempting to poison him for years. “There was no question their marriage was on the rocks,” says Salt Lake City attorney and Richins family spokesperson Greg Skordas. “And he suspected she was trying to kill him.”
