As a longtime Food Network fixture and judge on shows like Holiday Baking Championship, Duff Goldman gets to sample the crème de la crème of desserts. “It’s great,” admits the 48-year-old pastry chef. “Every baker who comes on is at the top of their game.” Still, there are some challenges that come with the coveted gig (beyond the extra calories). “As a judge, I have to take a bite of something and then explain how it tastes in a language people at home can understand,” he says. “Everybody wants to taste this yummy stuff, but it’s hard to describe flavor.” Here, the cookbook author talks to In Touch’s Fortune Benatar about bonding in the kitchen with his 2-year-old daughter, Josephine (he wed wife Johnna Colbry in 2019), his latest series, Summer Baking Championship, and his surprising guilty pleasure.
