His mother called out, "Cheeku! Get ready for school quickly, it might rain any time." Cheeku got ready in no time and left for school with a small umbrella, treating it like a toy.
Sometimes he would swing the umbrella like a sword, and sometimes he would aim it like a gun. At times, he would walk leaning on it, thinking it was his grandfather's stick.
Then it started drizzling. Cheeku opened the umbrella, but a strong gust of wind came and blew it away.
As Cheeku had already come a long way from home, he could not return. To save himself from getting wet, he stood under the overhang of a house by the roadside.
Then Cheeku saw his friend, Blacky bear, also going to school. Under Blacky's big umbrella, they started walking towards the school, happily chatting.
But by the time they reached the school, it had started raining heavily. Only one or two children were in each class.
Principal Shersingh declared that day as a 'Rainy Day'. He called up the parents of all the children who were present at the school and told them that the school was closed due to the Rainy Day and that they must pick up their children from school.
But no one was answering the phone at Cheeku's house. All the children had left for home except Cheeku.
Shersingh finished his office work and then asked Cheeku, "Cheeku, where do you live?" "Sir, I live in the new colony, Lokvan."
"Hey Cheeku, I live further ahead in Van Vatika. Come with me in my car, and I will drop you at your home and then ahead." go
