She hired Gigi goat and Matty monkey to take care of the shop as she also had to take care of her kids and work in the house.
Candy used to visit the shop for a few hours during the day, check all the bills and tally the cash received against sales of the day.
Initially, everything went well.
After a few weeks, Matty noticed that candy would tally the cash received with the bills of goods sold during the day.
He knew Candy ran the shop based on trust and that she was foolish for verifying the bills and cash and not checking it against the stock in the shop.
Knowing this, Matty got a wicked idea, he thought that Candy never checks the stock of items so, if he sells some of the items without making a bill, Candy will not know about it.
The next day onwards, Matty started selling a few of the items without a bill and pocketed the cash.
He hoped that Candy wouldn't know what happened as she didn't check the stock.
So, if three pencil boxes were sold in a day, he would make a bill for two and show the sale and pocket the money for one pencil box.
He also offered lower prices to customers who bought items without a bill.
Initially, Gigi was not aware of Matty's trick but gradually she came to know that Matty was cheating Candy.
She realised that since Candy was not checking the stock, she didn't know what was happening at the shop.
Gigi tried to stop Matty a couple of times, saying, "This is wrong." But Matty threatened Gigi, "You can join me if you want, but if you are not interested, then keep yourself away from it or else, I will blame you. You know I can do that." Gigi was frightened by Matty's threat.
She decided to remain silent on this matter.
