Learning during college years occurs as much outside the classroom as it does inside. To carve their way to a successful career, it is important that students define what 'success' means to them and identify their strengths and potential, say experts.

Making mindful use of one's college years is imperative to set a solid foundation for one's career. This encompasses identifying and encashing on opportunities, honing hard and soft skills, and acquiring the right attitude to be a value addition to the industry.

Planning, dedication, consistency, and a fine balance between everything that a person deems important, are key to heading on to a successful career path.

Defining 'success'

Experts said that it was important for college-going students to first discover for themselves what success meant to them, and then take the necessary steps toward exploring fields that excited them.

"Students first need to ponder upon what success means to them. Does success to them mean money, fame, job, | position, or all of these?" said counsellor Nandini Raman.
