Chris Rock Strikes Back at Will Smith a Year Later

Chris Rock came out swinging at Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith in his live March 4 Netflix special, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage—and he “isn’t worried” about the reaction, says an industry source. Nearly a year after getting slapped by the Emancipation actor, 54, at the 94th Academy Awards, the comic, 58, repeatedly called Will a “bitch,” while implying the star had misplaced anger stemming from past marital problems with Jada, 51.

“Will Smith practices selective outrage,” said Rock, who was attacked by Will onstage at the Oscars last March after he joked about Jada’s shaved head due to alopecia. “Everybody that really knows, knows I had nothing to do with that s---. I didn’t have any ‘entanglements,’ ”he said, referring to Jada’s 2020 revelation on her show Red Table Talk that she once had an “entanglement” with singer August Alsina when she and Will were on a break. Will appeared in the episode to talk about it.
