Robert De Niro and Christian Bale’s new comedic mystery Amsterdam has an A-list cast, including Margot Robbie, Chris Rock and Taylor Swift. But according to Bale, “Nancy is the star.” Nancy? That would be De Niro’s Chihuahua-Yorkie mix, who has a cameo. Adds De Niro nonchalantly: “I told her she can come.”
It’s a sight to behold: the Raging Bull and the former Batman trading quips about a pooch. The easy chemistry between the men, who first worked together in Amsterdam director David O. Russell’s 2013 dramedy American Hustle, is just as evident onscreen in Amsterdam (in theaters Oct. 7). De Niro, 79, a dad of six, and Bale, 48, a father of two with his wife, Sibi Blazic, let loose with People.
