The frenzied world of modernday Istanbul is the setting for new BBC2 crime drama The Turkish Detective and the show’s action scenes include a hair-raising motorbike chase through the city’s souks.
Based on the novels by Barbara Nadel, the eight-part series stars Haluk Bilginer, best known for playing EastEnders’ Mehmet Osman in the 1980s, as homicide detective Çetin Ikmen, a maverick cop with some offbeat methods for solving murders.
