The sinister and traumatic repercussions of a romance scam are placed under the microscope in Channel 5’s tense psychological thriller Love Rat.
In the four-part series, Sally Lindsay plays newly divorced Emma, who heads to Cyprus for a break following her split from husband Pete (Neil Morrissey). Once there, her eye is caught by charming hotelier Niko (The Split’s Gerald Kyd) and they begin a whirlwind relationship.
When Niko then asks Emma to start a new life with him in Cyprus, she loans him some money to complete the purchase of a villa where they can live together – only for Niko to promptly disappear with her savings.
Emma is left reeling and, with help from Pete, she tries to find Niko and her money. But as the conspiracy deepens, danger is on the horizon…
Here, The Madame Blanc Mysteries star Lindsay, 50, and Morrissey, 61, most recently seen in Finders Keepers, tell us more…
