Al Murray: Why Does Everyone Hate the British Empire?

Monday, 9pm, Sky History (box set, Sky Box Sets & NOW)

Comedian and history buff Al Murray, AKA the Pub Landlord, is travelling around the world for his new series, which explores the bloody history of the British Empire.

He’s journeying to India, Jamaica, South Africa and Australia to meet up with local comedians and discover the impact colonialism has had on each destination.

‘To be honest, I’ve had my mind totally expanded by going around the world and seeing all this,’ admits Murray, 55. ‘I’m here to discover stuff for myself and draw my own conclusions. That’s what history is for.’

Here, he tells us more about the new series…

Why did you want to make a show about the British Empire?
