The pair’s brief-but-memorable first meeting resulted in Gordon accidentally hitting a Border terrier with his car. Horrified by the consequences of their actions, the pair jointly adopted the injured dog, who they named Colin from Accounts.
After getting together as they cared for the pooch, Gordon and Ashley then broke up at the end of the first season following a huge argument, and decided to give Colin to another family. But within seconds of handing him over, they regretted both the break-up and the loss of their dog – and vowed to get Colin back.
TV&Satellite Week caught up with real-life married couple Brammall, 48, and Dyer, 35, who also write the show…
Where do we find Gordon and Ashley at the start of the second run?
Brammall We pick up two weeks later. This season is about them thinking what life is without Colin. If they can’t get him back, are they still good?
Dyer We did have to walk a fine line. The audience want Colin back with them – that’s satisfying. But it’s also satisfying watching them try and fail.
