Wimbledon
Monday-Friday, times vary, BBC1, BBC2 & BBC iPlayer
The gates of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club will swing open on Monday as thousands of fans arrive at Wimbledon for the world’s most- prestigious tennis tournament.
Those without tickets won’t miss any of the action, however, with the BBC providing blanket coverage as Clare Balding is joined in the studio by John McEnroe, Tim Henman, Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova and Nick Kyrgios.
With seven-time champion Novak Djokovic hoping to make the tournament after injury, last year’s winner Carlos Alcaraz is the player to beat in the men’s draw, while Aryna Sabalenka is the favourite in a tight women’s competition.
Meanwhile, in what could be Sir Andy Murray’s swansong in SW19 (see panel, right), a new generation of Brits will be going for glory, including British No.1 Katie Boulter, former US Open winner Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper, who sensationally defeated Alcaraz at Queen’s Club recently.
