NEW COMEDY DRAMA
The Lovers

Thursday, 9pm, Sky Atlantic (box set, Sky Box Sets & NOW)

The course of true love never did run smooth – and that’s especially true for Janet and Seamus, an unlikely couple who fall for each other in Sky Atlantic’s new comedy drama The Lovers.

Created by award-winning Northern Irish playwright David Ireland, the six-part romcom opens on a dark note with Janet, a bad-tempered supermarket worker from Belfast, contemplating suicide in her backyard.

Fortunately, she’s interrupted by Seamus, a self-centred TV politics presenter from London, who jumps over her garden wall in a bid to escape a group of angry locals following a particularly tone-deaf news report.

The pair are from two very different worlds and seem to have nothing in common, but after saving each other’s lives, they find themselves inextricably drawn to each other, proving that sometimes opposites really do attract.
