NEW DRAMA
Midas Man
From Wed 30 October, Prime Video
Brian Epstein was famously known as the fifth Beatle and credited with being the mastermind who turned the Liverpudlian band into a global sensation. But despite his huge influence, Epstein's fascinating and tragic life story hasn't been portrayed on screen until now.
Midas Man, a Prime Video biopic from British director Joe Stephenson, transforms Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Queen's Gambit) into The Beatles' dapper manager and follows his discovery of the band at Liverpool's Cavern Club in 1961 up until the release of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band six years later.
Yet behind Epstein's golden touch lay a conflicted, lonely man, who struggled to keep his homosexuality hidden from the public and who ignored his growing addiction to pills, which eventually led to his death from an accidental overdose in 1967, aged just 32.
