NEW COMEDY
Mammoth
Wednesday, 10pm, BBC2 (box set, BBC iPlayer)
As someone with fond memories of growing up in the 1970s, standup comic Mike Bubbins says he couldn't be happier playing an unreconstructed PE teacher from the decade that taste forgot in BBC2's new comedy Mammoth.
'I love that period with all the TV and music. I was a fan of Elvis Presley as a kid and I have a man crush on James Garner from The Rockford Files, smiles Bubbins.
'Even today, my house is very 1970s with oranges and browns.
The three-part series, cowritten by Bubbins, sees him play resolutely alpha male Tony Mammoth, who, in 1979, is caught up in an avalanche while leading a school skiing trip.
Stars Sian Gibson, William Thomas, Mike Bubbins, Joseph Marcell and Joel Davison
