Whodunnit Magpie Murders introduced us to modern-day publisher Susan Ryeland (Lesley Manville) and fictional 1950s sleuth Atticus Pünd (Tim McMullan), whose paths crossed in a double murder-mystery spanning two timelines, in which real life and fiction were ingeniously intertwined.
Now, the unlikely partners in crime-solving are back in action in a follow-up series from Foyle’s War creator Anthony Horowitz, starting with a mystery that seems to be linked to events in another of the Atticus Pünd detective novels penned by author Alan Conway (Conleth Hill).
As viewers will recall, Susan is the former editor of Alan’s novels, and she is now working in a hotel with her partner Andreas in Crete when she gets a visit from a couple who own a hotel in England.
