The execution of King Charles I in 1649 was an unprecedented and infamous chapter in British history that saw England briefly change from a monarchy into a republic. But what became of the men who brought about this seismic constitutional upheaval?
Sky History docudrama Royal Kil List tells the story of how, after the monarchy was restored in 1660, the late king’s son Charles II launched a relentless manhunt to bring the 59 men who signed his father’s death warrant to justice.
Along with reconstructions of this quest for royal revenge, the three-parter sees actors Sheila Atim, Jared Harris and Joseph Fiennes tell the story from the view of the Royalists, the regicides and King Charles II respectively.
