NEW COMEDY DRAMA
A League of Their Own From Friday 12 August, Prime Video
The 1992 film A League of Their Own, starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna, recounted the little-known story of the all-female professional baseball league that was formed in 1940s America.
Now it’s the setting for a new eight-part comedy-drama series based on the movie, but featuring a new cast of characters, and tackling issues of racism and sexism.
Following the formation of the Girls Professional Baseball League, hopefuls arrive in Chicago for try-outs, including Carson (co-creator Abbi Jacobson), who has skipped town without telling her serviceman husband about her sporting ambitions.
