The success of After Life, the award-winning Netflix comedy drama starring Ricky Gervais as a grieving widower, showed that it’s still possible to find humour in even the saddest areas.
That’s certainly the case with Good Grief, a New Zealand sitcom that lands on Acorn TV this week, with two seasons available.
The deliciously dark comedy follows two very different sisters – Ellie and Gwen Goode – who inherit their late grandfather’s funeral home, called Loving Tributes. After losing her teaching job, strait-laced Ellie wants to make a go of running the business, but laid-back Gwen wants to sell the funeral home so she can afford to go to Bali and become a DJ.
