SANDITON

LAST ONE FRIDAY, 9PM, ITV DRAMA

Many matters of the heart, and indeed the future of the town, hang in the balance as Sanditon, ITV's dramatisation of Jane Austen's unfinished final novel, concludes its second series this week.

Charlotte Heywood (Rose Williams) has two men vying for her attention as does her sister Alison (Rosie Graham). Heiress Georgiana Lambe (Crystal Clarke) is contemplating running away with artist Charles Lockhart (Alexander Vlahos), while the town faces financial ruin if Tom Parker (Kris Marshall) can't get Colonel Lennox (Tom Weston-Jones) to settle his regiment's debts.

TV Times spoke to the drama's lead writer Justin Young to find out what's in store for the residents of the seaside town in this week's finale...

CHARLOTTE'S NEW LOVE

After she fended off the unwanted advances of Colonel Lennox, Charlotte and her employer Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes) grew closer last week when he opened up to her about his troubled past. But after a rocky start, will the course of true love run smoothly for this star-crossed couple?

'There's no doubt that they have fallen in love with each other, but it's happened quite quickly,' says Justin. 'They've both got baggage-in the modern vernacular - to overcome, so the question is, can they? Can Colbourne trust himself to be the man that she needs him to be? Can Charlotte give her heart to someone else, having been damaged in the past? Everything doesn't necessarily resolve in episode six for these two, but I hope the audience will trust us that there is plenty more to come.'
