THE BUCCANEERS
NEW FROM WED 8 NOVEMBER,
APPLE TV+ DRAMA (FIRST THREE EPS FROM WED 8 NOV, THEN WEEKLY)

Following hot on the heels of the second season of Sky Atlantic’s The Gilded Age comes another lavish late 19th-century drama that explores the explosive culture clash between traditional society and new money.

Based on the unfinished novel by American Pulitzer Prizewinning author Edith Wharton, Apple TV+’s eight-part series The Buccaneers centres on five wealthy young American women who explode on to the London scene in the 1870s with the hope of finding husbands among the English aristocracy.

Making up the vivacious tightknit group is charismatic Nan St. George (Kristine Froseth), her sister Jinny (Imogen Waterhouse), her best friend Conchita Closson (Alisha Boe) and siblings Lizzy (Aubri Ibrag) and Mabel Elmsworth (Josie Totah).

MONEY MATTERS

The series begins with the sumptuous New York wedding of American wild child Conchita to Englishman Lord Richard ‘Dick’ Marable (Josh Dylan), and soon afterwards Mrs St. George arrives in London with her highspirited daughters to introduce them into English society. But their New World ways are looked down on by the snooty lords and ladies whose sons are lined up to marry them for their money.
