STARSTRUCK
SATURDAY, 8.30PM, ITV1 ENTERTAINMENT
Adam Lambert doesn’t hesitate when TV Times asks which music icon he would transform into if he were to compete in ITV1’s hit singing spectacular Starstruck.
‘I could probably do a really good Elvis. I’ve been told I look like him in certain lights, which I take as a compliment. I’d be all over the outfits!’ grins Adam, 41, who’s delighted to be back on the judging panel for series two of the Saturday-night talent search, joining fellow returnees Beverley Knight and Jason Manford plus new signing Shania Twain.
Critiquing teams of superfans who channel their favourite stars for the show is clearly close to Adam’s heart, as he found fame himself coming runner-up on American Idol in 2009. Alongside his solo career, he has collaborated with rock band Queen as lead vocalist since 2011, teaming up with guitarist Sir Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor for sell-out world tours.
Here, in an exclusive interview, Adam tells us about his judging style, the idol who left him starstruck, and why he loves the UK…
You seem to be having a ball on the second season of Starstruck, Adam!
The show has a nice energy and I’m really fond of my fellow judges Beverley, Jason and, this series, Shania, who’s seen the industry from the inside out and brings a lot of expertise to the panel. I was blown away by the talent in the last series and this year it’s even better.
