Since 2021, there have been 27 fatal dog attacks in England and Wales and around half of those were caused by American XL bullies. So in October 2023, the Government took action and announced plans to ban the breed under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
It means that owners now need an exemption to keep an XL bully and must keep them muzzled and on a lead in public.
